Our Story

A foundation of community service

Karma is Real

During my first year at the University of North Texas, I came from a small country town called Wimberley, TX, where southern hospitality was second nature. Growing up, I was taught to say ‘Yes, Sir’ and ‘No, Ma’am’—not as a formality, but as a sign of respect. When I arrived at college, I quickly realized that not everyone saw it that way. What I had known as kindness—holding doors open, speaking respectfully—was sometimes misunderstood or even criticized.

College brought people together from all walks of life, with different values and communication styles. I noticed that while there was a lot of conversation about respect, very few students were actively giving back to their community. That’s when I realized I didn’t need to change who I was—I needed to channel those values into something bigger.

I founded the Karma is Real community to bring together people who wanted to make a difference, who believed in kindness, service, and understanding. It became a space where we honored our diverse backgrounds and found common ground through action—not just words. It wasn’t about southern manners; it was about respect in every form, for every person.

Inspired by Mentorship

I’m deeply grateful to my family and friends who shaped the person I’ve become. To the mentors who led by example—sharing their lives through generosity and kindness—thank you. Every interaction with people from all walks of life has taught me that understanding karma begins with empathy, humility, and an open heart.
